Ranking the soccer world's 15 best-dressed managers
Being
a high-profile manager in a sport like soccer means the spotlight's
always on. Fashion and the game go hand-in-hand, and there are some
managers who "get it" more than others. These are the top 15 managers in
the world, ranked by sartorial swag.
[15] Jogi Low - Germany
Jogi Low is a pretty smartly dressed dude.
He mostly keeps it simple with dressy monochrome, sometimes rocking a
tie, but more often with a plain button-down and tailored suit. He
might've moved up a couple slots on the list if he wasn't constantly
getting caught picking his nose or rubbing at himself, but ... here we
are.
[14] Mauricio Pochettino - Tottenham Hotspur
Maurico Pochettino's one of those managers that can rock a suit or a full warm-up and still look comfortable and stylish either way. He keeps it classic, but he knows how to add the subtle details that really make a fit pop.[13] Bob Bradley - Swansea
Bob came up. He started out decidedly swagless in his younger MLS days, but his travels around the world have given him a distinctly continental dress sense.[12] Jose Mourinho - Manchester United
Jose Mourinho was tough to place on this list. He clearly knows how to dress, but he often still chooses to step out looking like a grizzled veteran instead of a multimillionaire manager. Still, the fact that he can pull that look off, ironically just adds to the stilo.[11] Zinedine Zidane - Real Madrid
Zizou's made the transition from player to coach look just about as smooth as it possibly could. You can say the same for his sideline attire, too. The only reason he's not higher on this list is because he can't seem to find pants that fit.
[10] Jurgen Klopp
Nobody said you had to wear a suit on the sideline, and they definitely didn't tell Jurgen Klopp. He keeps it casual in a tracksuit, but it works.[9] Claudio Cesare Prandelli - Valencia
It's a popular stereotype that Italians know how to put an outfit together, and Prandelli isn't going to be the one to break it. The new Valencia manager keeps it classy with perfectly tailored suits just about every time he steps out, and he never forgets the small details that truly make a good outfit a great one.[8] Ben Olsen - DC United
Ben Olsen knows how to put it all together. His suits are tailored, but not too tight as to be overly trendy. He's a fan of the three-piece, and he pays attention to the details too. Get 'em, Ben.[7] Arsene Wenger - Arsenal
Arsene Wenger may not know how to operate a zipper, but he damn sure knows how to get a fit off. He's been doing it for over two decades now, and you'll still rarely see him brick a fit.[6] Antonio Conte - Chelsea
Aother stylish Italian, Antonio Conte also knows how to make the seamless transition from training pitch to the awards gala. He can dress it up with a flawless three-piece suit, or keep it clean in warmups with some spotless adidas Boosts.[5] Carlo Ancelotti - Bayern Munich
What can you say about Carletto? His
fantastic managerial ability's only matched by his flawless dress sense.
No bricked fits over here.
[4] Luis Enrique - Barcelona
Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola grew up in
the same footballing school, and they clearly grew up in the same
sartorial one as well. Button downs, slim fit sweaters, tailored suits?
Check. No bricked fits? You know what it is.
[3] Diego Simeone - Atletico Madrid
The Man In Black. Simeone is consistent,
and his outfits are consistently fire. Not everyone can pull off the
full monochrome look, but Simeone does it better than anyone.
[2] Pep Guardiola - Barcelona
The style gawd himself, Pep's been sitting
atop the sartorial pile for a long time. From impeccably tailored
three-piece suits to crisp button-downs with a sweater, or just plain
well-paired shirt/slacks combos, Pep knows what he's doing. Still,
he just misses out on the top spot.
[1] Vincenzo Montella - AC Milan
Pep Guardiola would be No. 1, if it weren't for Vincenzo Montella storming in with a vengeance.
He does everything Pep does, but with a little bit more flavor and
sprezzatura. Every outfit he rocks looks like it was handmade for him by
the top Milanese tailors, and he never ever gets the details wrong.
