Eden Hazard has told RTL
"it would be a dream" to play under Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane
and he would happily be reunited with Manchester United boss Jose
Mourinho, although he stressed he is happy at Chelsea.
Zidane has praised Hazard
numerous times over the course of the Belgium international's career,
while the Chelsea man idolised the former France star as a youngster.
Since
being appointed Madrid boss in January 2016, Zidane has led Madrid to
back-to-back Champions League titles as well as finishing top of La Liga
last season, and Hazard said he would love to one day work with him.
"Everyone
knows the respect I have for the man," the 26-year-old said. "For the
player he was and for the coach he is, he was my idol. Of course I don't
know what will happen in my career in the future, but to play under him
would be a dream.
"At this time, though, I'm happy at Chelsea. I still have a lot of things to do at Chelsea, and I'm focused on Chelsea."
Hazard, whose contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2020,
won the 2014-15 Premier League title under Mourinho during the
Portuguese's second spell in charge of the Blues.
There have been suggestions that the pair fell out before Mourinho was dismissed, but he said: "It wouldn't bother me to play under Jose Mourinho again."
Hazard claimed the second Premier League winner's medal of his career under current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte last season.
He
also won the 2012-13 Europa League with Chelsea and captained his
country at Euro 2016, an honour he is set to repeat at next summer's
World Cup.
However, he said the greatest moment of his
career so far happened six years ago, when he and a Lille side also
featuring Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, Adil Rami and Gervinho won a
domestic Double under Rudi Garcia.
Hazard, who spent seven years with the Ligue 1 side, said:
"The Double achieved with Lille in 2011 was a very big moment because
no one expected us to do that. It really wasn't programmed."
A two-story restaurant in China collapsed while hosting an 80th birthday party, leaving 29 people dead and dozens injured, authorities said Sunday. The building crumbled around 9:40 a.m. Saturday in a village in Xiangfen county in the province of Shanxi, about 400 miles (630 kilometers) southwest of Beijing, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management said in a statement. Hundreds of rescuers searched the rubble and broken slabs of concrete, using sniffer dogs, cranes, and high-tech sensors. After daylong rescue efforts, 29 people were confirmed dead and another 28 were injured, seven of them seriously, officials said. It was not immediately clear what caused the collapse. The Shanxi provincial government appointed a team to investigate the accident, Reuters reported. While China has seen major improvements in industrial safety, building standards are sometimes ignored, particularly in rural areas such as Xiangfen county. The region lies in the heart of China's coal country, where tho...
Ronald Koeman will be the new manager of Barcelona, says club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The 57-year-old, who is manager of the Netherlands, is set to join the La Liga runners-up this week. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday night, Bartomeu said: "Koeman is the one we've chosen. If nothing goes wrong he will be the head coach next season." Koeman flew to Barcelona on Tuesday to finalise a deal with the club. Earlier on Tuesday, when the former Barca player was asked if he wanted to return as manager, he said: "I'd like to, but it'll only be confirmed once I've signed the deal. "Until then, I cannot say any more about it - even though I'd like to." Koeman, who played for the Catalan giants between 1989 and 1995 and helped the club to four league titles and the European Cup, has a contract with the Dutch FA which runs until the 2022 World Cup. Barcelona parted company with sporting director Eric Abidal on Tuesday, one day after rel...
