Black Widow' and 'West Side Story' Delayed Until 2021 Due to Pandemic

Image
Following its previous reshuffling of films due to the ongoing pandemic, Disney has announced it will once again push Black Widow‘s release date back, this time to next year, alongside its adaptation of West Side Story. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett Johansson‘s upcoming standalone superhero film has been pushed from November 6 to May 7, 2021, a full year removed from its original release date of May 1, 2020, before coronavirus concerns shut down most theaters. As a result, other Marvel Studios films like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Eternals have been pushed back to July 9 and November 5, 2021, respectively. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story has been pushed back from December 18, 2020, to December 10 of next year. Although this takes the film out of this year’s Oscar race, many suspect the film has also been delayed due to alligations surrounding the film’s star Ansel Elgort. Disney will move Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile sequel fr

TikTok and WeChat to be Removed From U.S. App Stores This Weekend

Image
TikTok is to be removed from all U.S. app stores this weekend following an executive order signed by President Trump. The President has also signed an executive order targeting WeChat, which will not be available from any app stores. According to sources cited in Financial Times, people who currently use the apps will be not be forced to remove them, although future software updates will be unavailable. The source also believes that WeChat would quickly become unusable, while the experience of using TikTok would downgrade over the next two months unless a deal was approved by Trump. The decision to ban both services from the app stores comes during negotiations between Oracle and ByteDance, which owns TikTok. The proposal submitted by Oracle and ByteDance would see TikTok’s global business spun out into a separate U.S. company with an American board and a security committee led by someone with government security clearance. As it stands, the new company would still be owned by ByteDanc

Oracle Triumphs Over Microsoft To Secure TikTok Sale

Image
According to new reports, Oracle has now triumphed over Microsoft, coming out as the victor for the bid for TikTok‘s sale in the U.S. This news comes months after Donald Trump issued an executive order mandating a forced sale, failure of which would lead to the social media platform being banned in the country. Anonymous sources close to the deal revealed that TikTok had put forward a proposal to U.S. officials that allows ByteDance — its Chinese parent company — to outsource just its cloud management of the data it collects, but retaining ownership over the company, making Oracle an American “technology partner.” ByteDance may also consider moving its headquarters out of China in order to escape the country’s jurisdiction, which requires companies to share data with the Chinese government if ordered to do so. While the new deal may address certain national security concerns for the U.S., a former government official expressed concerns regarding its political aspect: “it’s well short o

WOMAN CUTS OFF HAND FOR BIG PAYDAY ... Sentenced To Prison

Image
A woman went to unbelievable lengths to get a big payday -- she cut off her hand -- and now she'll have 2 years to reflect in prison. Julija Adlesic, a citizen of Slovenia, hatched a plan with her boyfriend, to collect on some big, fat insurance policies they took out on her. In all, they got 5 policies totaling more than $1 million. To get the loot, they cut off her hand with a circular saw and then filed a claim -- presumably some sort of disability claim. The insurance policies would have paid her half upfront and the balance in monthly installments. Thing is ... she got busted, and the 22-year-old woman was sentenced to 2 years in prison. The boyfriend got 3 years. Bold, but stupid. SRC:TMZ

GameStop To Introduce Installment Payment Plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Image
Preparing for the release of the Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S, GameStop is now preparing to launch an installment payment plan program for the next-gen consoles. Revealed in a series of internal documents, the American video game, consumer electronics and gaming merchandise retailer is looking to help offer an alternative way to own the systems. GameStop is currently looking into installment plans, direct layaway and rent-to-own plans. Installment plans would be offered through third-party companies like Quadpay and Klarna, requiring customers to split their purchase into four payments over six weeks with no interest. Layaway would see customers pay small installments over a certain period of time to clear the full payment before they receive their consoles. While the rent-to-own plans would let customers rent the new consoles for an upfront fee, with the rest of the cost paid over a 12 month period. Customers can then fully pay off the cost to own a console or retu

Between now and then, fans of the series will get seven more episodes of the currently-running season 10, with its finale scheduled for October 24, after which six bonus episodes will release in early 2021. Despite the news, fans of the franchise can rest assured that there’s much more content on its way, and season 11 won’t be the end of the zombie universe per se. As early as 2018, the show already announced that it’ll be making a theatrical trilogy following the arc of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), and a teaser trailer was released for the movies during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. New reports are suggesting that AMC will also be producing a spin-off series for two of the show’s most beloved characters: Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa

Boosie Offers Mark Zuckerberg $100K To Get His Instagram Page Back!

Image
Its been a few weeks, Roomies, and Boosie is still on the outs with Instagram! While we still aren’t sure of the exact reason Boosie got his page taken down, we know for sure he’ll do just about anything to get it back. Boosie has made a couple of pleas before, but this time he’s taking it to the bank. In a tweet, Boosie mentions Mark Zuckerberg, offering him $100K for his page back. Zuckerberg, who is worth billions, probably won’t bat an eye to the offer, but it’s worth a shot, right? Funny though.  “@Zuck I got 100k for my OfficialBoosieg page BACK,” he tweeted. Its been almost a month since Boosie has been on the ‘gram, Boosie called out Mark “Zuckenberger” for deactivating his account, and said he didn’t even know what he did wrong. “This is how I feed my family,” he says. “Mark, do not do this to 2020. Do not take Boosie off Instagram. We need to talk Mark. You need to take me to orientation or something, but you cannot take me out of school. This is how I feed my family, we ain’

Apple Watch Prototype Comes Disguised as iPod Nano

Image
Apple Demo has just shared the type of packaging and concealment when it comes to shipping out the upcoming Apple Watch for testing. Currently headed on its 6th generation, the Apple Watch was shipped to Apple Demo in a full silicone sleeve that is reminiscent of the discontinued iPod Nano. When in its disguise, the Apple Watch looks like the stubby 3rd-gen iPod Nano but also links back to the 6th-gen Nano’s square-shaped design when removed — funny enough, many users used to put their 6th-gen Nano on a wrist strap to be worn as a watch. The extra layer of material acts much like how testing cars are wrapped in camouflage and padding to prevent would-be leakers from targeting the new product before the official news release — something that usually just brings more attention to the object. Coronavirus: Oxford University vaccine trial paused after participant falls ill

Image
Final clinical trials for a coronavirus vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, have been put on hold after a participant had an adverse reaction in the UK. AstraZeneca described it as a "routine" pause in the case of "an unexplained illness". The outcome of vaccine trials is being closely watched around the world. The AstraZeneca-Oxford University vaccine is seen as a strong contender among dozens being developed globally. Hopes have been high that the vaccine might be one of the first to come on the market, following successful phase 1 and 2 testing. Its move to Phase 3 testing in recent weeks has involved some 30,000 participants in the US as well as in the UK, Brazil and South Africa. Phase 3 trials in vaccines often involve thousands of participants and can last several years. Stat News, the health website which first broke the story, said details of the UK participant's adverse reaction were not immediately known, but quoted a source as sa

Coronavirus: Rise in UK cases a great concern

Image
Prof Jonathan Van Tam said people have "relaxed too much" over the summer and "we have got to start taking this very seriously again". If not, the UK will have "a bumpy ride over the next few months", he warned. He said that infections among younger people in EU countries had later filtered through to older age groups. France and Spain are among a number of European countries that have seen a sharp rise in coronavirus cases in recent weeks, after lockdown restrictions were eased and testing for the disease was ramped up. On Monday, Spain became the first country in western Europe to record 500,000 infections, after tallying more than 26,000 new infections over the weekend. Prof Van Tam's comments came as more parts of the UK are to face tougher restrictions following a rise in the number of cases. On Sunday UK authorities announced 2,988 new cases - the highest figure since 22 May, while a further 2,948 cases were reported in the 24 hours to 09:00 BST

Russia's Navalny out of coma after poisoning

Image
Doctors treating Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny say he is out of an induced coma and his condition, since being poisoned, has improved. He is responding to verbal stimuli, they said. Mr Navalny, 44, was flown to Germany after falling ill on a flight in Siberia in August. His team allege he was poisoned on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who denies any involvement. German doctors say the Putin critic was poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent. On Monday, the Charité hospital in Berlin said in a statement that Mr Navalny was being weaned off mechanical ventilation. "He is responding to verbal stimuli. It remains too early to gauge the potential long-term effects of his severe poisoning," it said. It also said doctors were in close contact with Mr Navalny's wife. Mr Navalny's spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh, tweeted: "News about Alexei. Today he was taken out of induced coma. Gradually he will be switched off from a ventilator. He responds to speec

France has unveiled huge corona virus recovery plan

Image
France has unveiled a 100bn-euro (£89bn) economic stimulus package to help repair the economic damage caused by coronavirus. President E1mmanuel Macron's government said the investment would include big spending on green energy and transport. Dubbed "France re-launch", it is aimed at reversing rising unemployment, and includes tax cuts for business. The economy shrank by 13.8% between April and June, the biggest quarterly fall since the Second World War. Unveiling the plan, whose €100bn price tag is the equivalent of 4% of France's annual economic output, Prime Minister Jean Castex said it was almost four times bigger than the rescue strategy implemented after the financial crisis of 2008. Its goal is to move away from the emergency funding of the coronavirus crisis and to make long-term investments in employment and training, as well as in France's transformation to a green economy. About €40bn of the funding will come from the new European Union recovery fund. A

Rolls-Royce launches £250,000 car as demand rebounds

Image
The boss of carmaker Rolls-Royce has said global demand for luxury vehicles is rebounding despite the pandemic. Boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös told the BBC that markets in Asia, Europe and the US were now "more or less back to normal". Mr Müller-Ötvös was speaking at the launch of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost, the company's latest model, which is expected to retail at around £250,000. He said sales for the first half of 2020 were down 30%, but now "times are starting to become better and better". Mr Müller-Ötvös described the launch of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost, a complete redesign of the most successful car in the firm's history, as a "seminal moment". At the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Rolls-Royce shut down production for a couple of weeks, while dealerships around the world followed suit. The slump in sales came after a bumper year in 2019, which Mr Müller-Ötvös described as "the best-ever year in the 116-year history of Rolls-Royce Motor C

Usher reportedly has a baby on the way with his girlfriend record executive Jenn Goicoechea. A source very close to the couple told Us Weekly, Usher and Jenn are “thrilled and very excited.” Jenn was reportedly spotted outside a production studio today sporting her baby bump. This will be Jenn’s first baby and Usher’s third.  Usher has been rocking with Jenn since 2019. They were first linked to each other when they were spotted backstage at the Hollywood Bowl in October 2019. Usher appears to be happy with his new bae after filing for divorce from his second wife Grace Miguel in December of 2018. The two had previously separated earlier that year in March, releasing a joint statement saying, “After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives.” Their split was on the heels of several allegations and lawsuits that claimed Usher had

According to new reports, Apple intends to ship 75 to 80 million 5G iPhones this year alongside two Apple Watches and a new iPad Air model. Bloomberg reports that the figure is in line with similar iPhone launch shipments from the last few years, suggesting Apple isn’t worried about coronavirus slowing down sales despite delaying releases into October. It’s already been reported there may be five new iPhones arriving in various sizes with a new square edge design. There will also be a steel-edged “Pro” model alongside a lower-end aluminum iPhone 11 equivalent. However, a new iPad Air model with slim bezels similar to the iPad Pro could be arriving, according to analyst Ming-chi Kuo. Most likely the same 10.8-inch iPad Kuo predicted earlier this year. Toyota's Moon Rover Has been Named the "Lunar Cruiser"

Image
Toyota‘s four-seater moon rover has been given the name “Lunar Cruiser.” The company has been working with JAXA (the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) on the vehicle’s development since July of last year. The name of the moon rover was inspired by Toyota’s leading SUV model Land Cruiser. It measures six meters long, five meters wide and approximately four meters high. There will be a steady circulation of air supply inside the vehicle, so passengers can ride in it without wearing any spacesuits.  Currently, Toyota and JAXA are working on developing the vehicle’s hydrogen-powered FCV (fuel cell vehicle) technology, which will allow the rover to travel on the moon’s surface for more than 10,000 kilometers. The Luna Cruiser’s engineering and design are expected to be completed by 2024, with a projected release date of 2029 — the rover’s manned exploration is set to take place in 2030.
