Cardi B explains why she 'drugged and robbed' men

Image
Cardi B has defended herself after a video resurfaced of her saying she drugged and robbed men who wanted to have sex with her while she worked as a stripper before finding fame. The rapper faced criticism after the three-year-old Instagram live video recirculated on social media. "Whether or not they were poor choices at the time, I did what I had to do to survive," she wrote on Tuesday. "I never claimed to be perfect or come from a perfect world." The original video was made as her career was starting to take off and was her response to someone who said she didn't deserve success because she hadn't put in any work. "Nothing was handed to me. Nothing," she said in the video, before going on to reveal that she would invite men to a hotel before drugging and robbing them. In response to the furore, she wrote on Instagram that she had been talking "about things in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a living&quo

Jussie Smollett: What The Dropped Charges Mean For His Career

Image
Criminal charges against actor Jussie Smollett have been dropped, but the court of public opinion is still out. This morning, Smollett’s attorneys and prosecutors announced that all  charges against Smollett have been dropped and his record expunged. The Empire actor was accused of orchestrating a hate crime against himself in Chicago and filing a false police report about it.  The decision is a stunning about-face in a very public case that saw Chicago police claim the alleged attack was in service of Smollett’s career. Among the evidence the police said they had was a copy of the check used for payment and phone records showing Smollett communicating with the assailants before and after the incident. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson and Mayor Rahm Emanuel slammed the dropped charges, with Rahm condemning that Smollett had been “let off scot-free.” “If you want to say you’re innocent of the situation, you take your day in court,” said Johnson. “I would never hide be

Into the Badlands Season 3 Episode 10 Review

Image
This Into The Badlands review contains spoilers. Ask anyone who their favorite character on Into the Badlands is, and they'd probably say "The Widow". And why wouldn't they? She stole the show since day one (no offense to Sunny) and continues to be one of its main focal points. The Widow's come a long way since we first met her, that's for sure. And while watching "Raven's Feather, Phoenix Blood", I realized that more than ever. Raven's Feather, Phoenix Blood" is an experimental episode for Into the Badlands. In it, The Widow goes on a spontaneous vision quest to get her "gift" back. This takes place in an alternate reality where The Widow is a deadly red-clad baron known as the Phoenix who rules the Badlands with a velvet fist. Her right hand man is none other than a version of Gaius Chau, who is also dressed in all red. As the Phoenix, the Widow has access to all the powers of her "gift" which she has used to

25 States Are at Risk of Serious Flooding

Image
Vast areas of the United States are at risk of flooding this spring, even as Nebraska and other Midwestern states are already reeling from record-breaking late-winter floods, federal scientists said on Thursday. Nearly two-thirds of the lower 48 states will have an elevated risk of some flooding from now until May, and 25 states could experience “major or moderate flooding,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. “The flooding this year could be worse than anything we’ve seen in recent years, even worse than the historic floods of 1993 and 2011,” said Mary C. Erickson, deputy director of the National Weather Service, in a conference call with reporters. The major flooding this month in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and elsewhere is “a preview of what we expect throughout the rest of the spring,” she said. Some 13 million people could be exposed to major flooding, making this a “potentially unprecedented” flood season, said Edward Clark, director of NOAA’s

He said the new development was good for the Nigerians workers, adding that it would enhance economic development in the country.  Mr David Samuel, a staff of the Ministry of Information, said the issue of the minimum wage was long overdue but it was better late than never. The man who made life easier for the blind

Google recalls this Monday to the Japanese Seiichi Miyake: He originally wanted to help a friend whose eyesight was limited. Meanwhile, his invention is used worldwide. Anyone calling Google's home page in numerous countries this Monday , including Germany, sees the drawn-up close-up of a street instead of the usual logo, some paving stones are grooved, others with pimples - on it stand a person with a cane. Google is reminiscent of the Japanese inventor Seiichi Miyake (1926-1982). The so-called blind guidance system goes back to him; also called guideline system or tactile floor guidance system. These are systems that allow visually impaired or blind people, for example, using a stick safely move in public space: For this purpose in the soil certain indicators are embedded, grooves or pimples. You can see them in everyday life, for example on platforms, at pedestrian lights or in public places. In 1965, Seiichi Miyake invested his own money to develop the tactile plates, ac

Etinosa admits she made a mistake after appearing nude on IG

Image
An actress, Etinosa Idemudia, has admitted she made a mistake after appearing nude on a Instagram call to MC Galaxy on Friday, March 15, 2019. Commenting on her social media profile this time, she attributed her performance to a challenge she was dealing with that seemed like a problem in her romance. Etinosa shared that she hopes to move on from the incident while maintaining a confidence about her body. "I made a mistake that I do not ever want to repeat. No man is perfect but we must continue to strive for perfection. "The big blunder has occurred and I would love to move on. Me, my pot belly and the rest of my beautiful body," writes Etinosa with humour. No more nudity When a viral video showing Etinosa Idemudia undressing herself on IG hit the social media audience, MC Galaxy had his share of criticism for allowing the display to go. Despite his claim that he was powerless, the singer was blamed for not doing enough to prevent the regrettable show. As a

PSG see off rivals Marseille 3-1 as Di Maria stars in ‘le Classique’

Image
Angel Di Maria scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain eased to a 3-1 victory over Marseille on Sunday to extend their long unbeaten run against their arch rivals and move 20 points clear at the Ligue 1 summit. Kylian Mbappe put PSG in front on the stroke of half-time with his 26th league goal of the season, but Valere Germain equalised in the first minute of the second period. Argentine Di Maria restored the home team's advantage, though, and Marseille 'keeper Steve Mandanda was sent off for a clear handball 30 yards from goal. Di Maria's wonderful free-kick added further gloss to the scoreline, although Mbappe saw a late penalty saved by visiting substitute Yohann Pele. The capital giants are now unbeaten in 19 matches against their rivals, winning 16 meetings and drawing three since losing 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome in November 2011. It was a strong response from Thomas Tuchel's men in their first real test since being dumped out of the Champions League by Man

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona: World record crowd as Nigeria's Oshoala scores

Image
It was a world record for a club match in women's football as a crowd of 60,739 turned out to watch Atletico Madrid take on Barcelona in the Spanish capital. The top-of-the-table clash was played in Atletico men's team's Wanda Metropolitano instead of the women's much smaller home stadium which has a capacity of 3,500. The attendance shattered the previous European record of 48,121 who watched Athletic Bilbao's women's team play Atletico in a Copa del Rey match in Bilbao in January. "The players are the reason for all the success," Atletico coach José Luis Sánchez Vera told El Pais before the game. "They are the ones who have connected with the fans and they are the ones who are going to fill this stadium with Atléticos. "The match will be a party for all of them and for those who don't know our players, I think they're going to be hooked." Atletico captain Amanda Sampedro added: "I was sure that the fans would respon

Powerball’s jackpot surges to $550 million.

KEY POINTS The IRS withholds 24 percent for federal taxes, although a top marginal rate of 37 percent means the winner would be on the hook for the difference. State taxes also would be withheld or due later, depending on where the ticket was purchased and where you live. Your chance of winning the top prize is about 1 in 292 million. With no one hitting all winning numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, the top prize has jumped above the half-billion-dollar mark. Now at a whopping $550 million for Wednesday night’s drawing, the jackpot has been growing for more than two months of twice-weekly drawings. And while the odds are stacked against players winning it — your chance is about 1 in 292 million the IRS is always a guaranteed eventual winner. “The big impact on winnings is taxes,” said certified financial planner Dan Routh, a wealth advisor at Exencial Wealth Advisors in Oklahoma City. “If you win, just realize how big the tax bill can be and make sure you’re rea

How to make corned beef and cabbage

Image
For many, corned beef and cabbage is a once-a-year meal, usually eaten on St. Patrick’s Day. The hearty dish with potatoes is as much a part of the American celebration on March 17 as wearing green and drinking Guinness. The secret is to simmer the meat slowly, whether on the stove, in the oven or in a slow cooker or Instant Pot. We have several recipes below. In the meantime, it’s helpful to know the recipe has its roots in Ireland but has been slightly altered. The version popular in the United States is the creation of Irish immigrants who, in search of “bacon joints” to simmer with cabbage, turned to cured beef. The corned beef was accessible and plentiful in New York’s Jewish delis and markets where many of the immigrants first lived. As for corning, it has nothing to do with corn and is a form of curing. The process originated in Anglo-Saxton times when meat was dry-cured in coarse “corns” of salt, some the size of corn kernels, that were rubbed on the meat to prevent it

Tesla has launched its latest car, the Model Y, its second mass-market electric vehicle.

Image
The car was unveiled at an event in Los Angeles. The firm will first release a long-range version of the vehicle with a price tag of $47,000 (£35,489). Chief executive Elon Musk said a standard-range model priced at $39,000 would be available in 2021. It comes after a challenging period for Tesla, with production issues and legal problems for Mr Musk. The Tesla boss had previously described the Model Y as part of a plan to reach a wider audience, following on from the Model 3 - the cheapest car in its range, which was launched in 2017. The first, more expensive Model Y will have a range of 300 miles (482 km). Deliveries are expected to begin in next year. The standard model will have a range of 230 miles per charge. By contrast, the Model 3 has a range of 220 miles, a top speed of 130mph and 0-60mph acceleration of 5.6 seconds. More than 400,000 signed up for the car but it faced production issues and the prices were higher than expected, averaging $50,000. The price wa

US government sues Volkswagen over massive fraud

Image
The US is suing Volkswagen, accusing the German carmaker of "massive fraud" over the diesel emissions scandal. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims the firm misled investors by issuing billions of dollars worth of bonds and securities, without disclosing that it had cheated emissions tests. Volkswagen's former chief executive Martin Winterkorn is also being sued. The company said it would contest the SEC lawsuit vigorously. VW first admitted in September 2015 that it had used illegal software to cheat US emissions tests. But between April 2014 and May 2015 the carmaker sold $13bn (£10bn) of bonds and securities to US investors, at a time when executives were already aware that illegal software had been installed to manipulate emissions tests, according to the SEC's suit. The SEC said that as a result, Volkswagen "reaped hundreds of millions of dollars in benefit by issuing the securities at more attractive rates for the company". W
