Capri Sun donates water to schools, apologizes to kids that it's not juice

Image
Capri Sun recently launched a new campaign to help keep kids hydrated while at school. Unfortunately for juice-loving kids, however, they may not be receiving what they’d normally expect to find in the famous juice pouches. Capri Sun is donating 5 million pouches of water to schools in the Chicagoland area and Granite City. Apparently, the company anticipates kids being disappointed at grabbing a pouch and finding it full of water instead of juice, so the pouches have the message, “We’re sorry, it’s not juice” printed on them. Capri Sun the donations were made because water fountains have been shut down at schools. “As a brand that exists to support families, when CAPRI SUN heard water fountains were going to be off-limits when schools reopened, we saw an opportunity to step up and help out," said Naor Danieli, the associate director of kids hydration at Kraft Heinz. "With a tremendous amount of collaboration across all our Capri Sun teams, we worked quickly to create Capri S...

Lionel Messi: Barcelona forward's release clause remains valid, says La Liga

Image
The 700m euros (£624m) release clause in Lionel Messi's Barcelona contract is still valid, La Liga has said. Messi, 33, informed the club on Tuesday that he wished to leave and did not attend a pre-season medical on Sunday. The Argentina forward plans to invoke a clause that would allow him to depart the club for free but Barcelona argue the deadline for that has expired. Spain's top-flight competition La Liga now says it will not de-register the player unless the clause is met. "In compliance with the applicable rule, La Liga will not approve a request to be de-registered as a player with the Spanish football federation, unless the amount in the release clause has been paid," the body said in a statement. Messi was due at Barcelona's training ground at 10.15am local time on Sunday but did not attend. The player's lawyers plan to exercise a clause in his four-year contract, signed in 2017, which would have allowed him to leave the club for free if he had reque...

A two-story restaurant in China collapsed while hosting an 80th birthday party, leaving 29 people dead and dozens injured, authorities said Sunday. The building crumbled around 9:40 a.m. Saturday in a village in Xiangfen county in the province of Shanxi, about 400 miles (630 kilometers) southwest of Beijing, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management said in a statement. Hundreds of rescuers searched the rubble and broken slabs of concrete, using sniffer dogs, cranes, and high-tech sensors. After daylong rescue efforts, 29 people were confirmed dead and another 28 were injured, seven of them seriously, officials said. It was not immediately clear what caused the collapse. The Shanxi provincial government appointed a team to investigate the accident, Reuters reported. While China has seen major improvements in industrial safety, building standards are sometimes ignored, particularly in rural areas such as Xiangfen county. The region lies in the heart of China's coal country, where tho...

A Japanese flying car project is one step closer to taking off into the mainstream. SkyDrive Inc. announced Friday that it carried out a successful test flight with one person aboard, releasing images of a contraption with propellers lifted several feet off the ground that hovered in a netted area for four minutes. “We want to realize a society where flying cars are an accessible and convenient means of transportation in the skies and people are able to experience a safe, secure, and comfortable new way of life,” the company’s CEO, Tomohiro Fukuzawa, said in a statement. Fukuzawa says he hopes the car can be made into a real-life product by 2023, but he acknowledged that making it safe was critical. “Of the world’s more than 100 flying car projects, only a handful have succeeded with a person on board,” he separately told The Associated Press. “I hope many people will want to ride it and feel safe.” The machine so far can fly for just five to 10 minutes, but if that can become 30 minut...

Apple Could Be Dropping the Prices of the iPhone SE and XR

Image
Rumors are circulating online which suggests that Apple‘s entry-level iPhone SE and XR will become cheaper following the launch of the iPhone 12. According to the Twitter account @aaple_lab, Apple’s iPhone SE and XR handsets are set to be reduced from $399 USD and $549 USD to $349 USD and $499 USD, respectively. This strategy is nothing new for the Cupertino-based company, which typically reduces the price of its older products while rolling out newer, more expensive flagship models. The decision means that those who want a new phone, but don’t want to upgrade to the tech conglomerate’s latest iPhone, can do so at a more affordable price point, benefitting both buyers and Apple. @aaple_lab also reported that the iPhone 11 would cost $549 USD, and that the iPhone 12 would cost from $699 USD. The top-spec iPhone 12 Pro is expected to cost from $999 USD, depending on the size of the phone’s memory. Although the iPhone XR and SE are very different in styles — the former features a 4.7-inch...

Mayer detailed the reasons for his departure in a letter to employees that was obtained by Fox Business. “In recent weeks, as the political environment has sharply changed, I have done significant reflection on what the corporate ...
