Paris art dealer 'forgets' €1.5m picture in taxi

An artwork worth €1.5m ($1.6m; £1.25m) has been found after it was accidentally left in a taxi in Paris.
A French art dealer, who has not been identified by police, filed a theft report after forgetting the picture in the cab's boot on Thursday.
He reportedly became distracted by a call on his mobile and only noticed he no longer had the picture the next day.
The work is Concetto Spaziale (Spatial concept) by Argentina-born Italian artist Lucio Fontana, who died in 1968.
The dealer had been making his way to a modern art gallery in Paris's third arrondissement.
He tried to locate the taxi he had used but was unsuccessful and on Saturday went to police, Le Parisien newspaper reported.
But the driver returned the work on Tuesday, AFP news agency quoted police as saying.

Fontana's picture is one of a series of abstracts he made featuring the piercing of the canvas to create an actual dimension of space and using light.
The artist became known for founding the spacialist movement, which called for the art world to embrace science and technology, according to the Tate Gallery.

'Students among dead' in Jordan flash floods

At least seven people have been killed and 16 more are missing after flash floods struck an area near the Dead Sea in Jordan, officials say. Most of those killed and missing were students on a trip, civil defence sources said, but this was not confirmed. Prime Minister Omar Razzaz is reported to be overseeing a rescue operation at the Zara Maeen hot springs area. Search teams have so far rescued 11 people, Reuters reported. Some of them are said to be in a serious condition.

Nigeria hunger crises can kill 200 children per day.

  Two hundred children could die each day from hunger in northeastern Nigeria as a result of the ongoing conflict in the country, a humanitarian agency has warned. Up to half of all children under the age of five are acutely malnourished, international charity Save the Children said on Monday, after screening the health of boys and girls in the region between June and October in 2016. The figure could be even worse in areas that are out of reach because of insecurity, according to the report.
